Volunteer

ICLA volunteers may choose to supplement their volunteer programs with private language immersion. Students are paired with private Spanish tutors with the option of two, three, or four hours a day of language instruction. Each course is based on ICLA’s core curricula, developing speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills in Spanish, with personalized texts, music, video and exercises meeting both the needs and interests of each student.

  -HIV/AIDS- Asociacón Redes Nueva Frontera: From street outreach to live music events, ARNF's activities can be seen throughout the city and province of Mendoza. This advocacy organization not only lobbies for just legislation relation to health rights, but also has its own city wide radio program.

  -Short term volunteers (3-4 months): For ARNF Can be involved in outreach, education, and administrative work as well. Translation and writing in English will also be an important role, as ARNF expands its global contacts.

  -Long term volunteers (6-10 months): For ARNF will be involved in many of the activities short term volunteers are involved in, but with long term projects as well. Specialized English classes for ARNF employees, as well as grant research and writing applications in English can be options for those willing to stay the amount of time required to develop both a relationship with ARNF and the language skills required for more profound work in ARNF projects.

  -Organic Farm- Las Yeguas:
Located two hours from the city of Mendoza, Las Yeguas organic arm works with us at ICLA to provide volunteer support with a Spanish language background. Students who work at the organic farm will live in the city of Mendoza for a few weeks during their language immersion, then live full time on Las Yeguas farm. Once comfortable with their bilingual atmosphere, students may involve themselves in all aspects of a functional organic farm, along with living with the language in their daily activities. Minimum volunteer commitment: 3 months.

  -Youth & Poverty- Asociación Civil Alternativa Solidaria: Through outreach and education, ACAS has created a profound network of activities through the city of Mendoza. Targeted at the city's most vulnerable residents, underprivileged youth, ACAS magazine "Donde Topa" discusses youth rights, youth politics, and youth culture. Cultural activities also include street murals, public theater, and more broad artistic events, while social development is taken on through small business work.

  -Short term volunteers (3-4 months): For ACAS can be involved in outreach, journalism, art, and administrative work as well. Translation and writing in English will also be an important role.

  -Long term volunteers (6-10 months): For ACAS will be involved in many of the activities short term volunteers are involved in, but with long term projects as well. Specialized English classes for ACAS employees, as well as grant research and writing applications in English can be options for those willing to stay the amount of time required to develop both a relationship with employees and city youth, and the language skills required for more profound work in ACAS projects.
